WHISKY AND WATER
A 4-day break in the Highlands
Fort William, in the heart of the Highlands on the shores of Loch Linnhe, will be your base from which to visit Ben Nevis distillery and explore the surrounding area.
Ben Nevis distillery is just two miles north from the centre of Fort William. It is one of the earliest licensed distilleries in the country, founded 1825.
Visitors are welcome to visit the production facility, tea room, shop and audio visual presentation, and to taste the whisky as well as having the opportunity to buy.
Once you have worked up an appetite, you’ll find that Crannog Restaurant has a prime Fort William waterfront location and beautiful views over Loch Linnhe. Here, guests enjoy local seafood and excellent wines in comfortable surroundings. Many also board the Souter’s Lass for a relaxing cruise taking in spectacular scenery and great views of Ben Nevis.
A breathtaking drive through the Great Glen and along the shores of Loch Ness, Scotland’s deepest freshwater loch, will take you to Inverness. Nearby, you will find the Culloden House Hotel - truly historic luxury accommodation which was requisitioned by Bonnie Prince Charlie as his lodgings and battle headquarters prior to the Battle of Culloden Moor in April 1746.
Set in its own grounds and parkland, Culloden House Hotel enjoys peace and tranquility and offers guests access to world-class golfing, shooting and fishing.
The second part of your trip will take you to the Isle of Skye on the West Coast of Scotland and over the famous Skye Bridge, which spans Loch Alsh.
No visit to the island would be complete without a pilgrimage to Talisker Distillery where visitors can see distillers at work and enjoy a complimentary dram before their tour - taking time to gaze upon the dramatic Cuillin mountains across the waters of Loch Harport.
Continuing your exploration of the island will take you to The Three Chimneys and The House Over-By - one of Scotland’s most favourite restaurants and its adjacent 5-star accommodation in a remote and beautiful location, only a 35 minute drive from Talisker Distillery
Based in an original crofter’s cottage, The Three Chimneys offers very best seafood, lamb, beef and game, plus a wide variety of salads, herbs, vegetables and soft fruits. Local produce features on the daily changing lunch and dinner menus.
The House Over-By has six sumptuous bedroom suites, all with superb sea views.
Your next stop is the multi award-winning Hotel Eilean Iarmain - an establishment that pulls off with aplomb a merger of excellent cuisine, old world charm and stunning scenery. Its tasteful aura of fine living, well appointed accommodation and country sports makes any stay an experience to treasure.
Total approximate cost per person, based on 2 people sharing for all elements of the trip: £345.00 including Bed and breakfast accommodation, lunch and Cruise at the Crannog restaurant and Crannog Cruises and Ben Nevis and Talisker distillery tours.
